Ahead of an informational meeting discussing a potential multi-family recycling ordinance this evening, the Ecology Action Center (EAC) raises community recycling goals. According to the EAC, McLean County currently has 42% of the community recycling. The EAC had a goal of 40% for the last two years and told WGLT that it is raising its goal to 50%.

Michael Brown, Executive Director of the EAC, stated that the multi-family ordinance would be a crucial tool in reaching the new goal. As a whole, the EAC is aiming to make commercial recycling more accessible in the community. A draft ordinance will be revealed this evening at 5:30 PM in meeting room 409 in Uptown Station in Normal. The Town stated that the ordinance is expected to be formally considered by the Town Council in July.
