Education Grant to Bring Virtual Reality to Sugar Creek Elementary School

Over 500 students at Sugar Creek Elementary School will have access to virtual reality technology this fall thanks to a local education grant. The Beyond the Books Educational Foundation awarded its $10,000 Beyond the Box grant to Sugar Creek Speech Language Pathologist Karen Showalter to purchase a customized Google Expeditions classroom kit for the school.

State Farm, BACC Partnership Helps Area Youth Gain Job Skills

State Farm and the Bloomington Area Career Center  (BACC) are partnering this week to provide mock interviews for high school students for the seventh year in a row.Nearly 400 students will participate in the week-long program at the State Farm Oakland Avenue Building in Bloomington. The first session was held Friday, February 23, and runs Monday through Thursday next week.

Normal Public Library Looking for "Partners in Technology" Mentors

With the help of local tech professionals, "Partners in Technology," a pilot program at the Normal Public Library, wants to put computer knowledge into the hands of more children in Bloomington-Normal. Community members interested in being a tech mentor to children ages 10-14 have until December 11th to apply for the Partners in Technology pilot program.
