The McLean County Board gave the go-ahead to the community’s fourth solar project Tuesday morning.

The board approved the 2-megawatt project on its consent agenda after it advanced through the McLean County Zoning Board of Appeals earlier this month.

The relatively speedy process for all four of developer Cypress Creek Renewables’ solar projects points to the less controversial nature of solar farms compared to wind farms in the area, said County Building and Zoning Director Phil Dick.

CCR expects preparations and construction of the farm will take about a year.
