The next president of Heartland Community College will be Keith Cornille.

Cornille currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Student Services Officer at Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wisconsin, where he has spent the last 18 of his 32-year career in higher education.

“Heartland is an outstanding institution in a thriving community,” said Cornille in a statement. “The recently adopted Strategic Plan developed with input from throughout the college and community is an excellent framework to guide our future growth. The current conversations with the business sector will help us further understand the college’s program mix to meet the current and future workforce needs of the communities we serve.”

Current president Rob Widmer will retire June 30 after 5 years in the role and over 20 years at Heartland.

Heartland’s Board of Trustees selected Cornille from four finalists for the position. Trustees will vote on his contract at an April 17 meeting.

Pending contract approval Cornille is expected to assume the position in July.
