Going Local: ACC Electronix, Inc.
ACC Electronix, Inc. is a high quality contract manufacturer of electronic assemblies. Since 2010 the company has been located at the Crossroad Center (formerly the factory outlet mall) at 420 Wylie Drive in Normal.
In 1992, the company was known as Audi Cord Corporation but changed its name to ACC Electronix 20 years ago. Some of the company’s clients include well-known names such as Komatsu, Vermeer and Precision Planting.
“We currently have 85 full-time employees with 25,000 sq. ft. of office and manufacturing space,” said President John Franklin. John is a graduate of Lexington High School and Colorado State University. He also holds an MBA from Illinois State University.
John and Andy Rector, the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, are partners in the business. “We take pride in our customer service and attention. Most of our clients are within a 300-mile radius of McLean County,” John said.
ACC has evolved significantly since it began providing quality equipment to the broadcast industry in 1976. The company now manufactures a wide variety of electronic products and serves customers in broadcast, industrial, agricultural, off-road, construction, mining, military and medical markets.
“Our challenge is managing our growth and finding quality employees to work with us,” John said. ACC experienced 85% growth in revenue from 2016 to 2017. John estimates that the company worked on 75-100 different products at its Normal location in January.
“A large majority of consumer electronic products are manufactured in China and the Far East, but we feel our customer service and prompt response earn us good business,” John said.
ACC Electronix’s services include surface mount assembly, BGA pitch placements, fine pitch placement, high volume runs and in-circuit testing. More information about the technical aspects of the business can be found on the company's website.
