Eastland Mall owner CBL Properties confirmed global fashion retailer H&M will open in Bloomington in time for the 2018 holiday shopping season. H&M announced it will carry the H&M Kids collection for newborns to 14-year-olds in addition to clothing for ladies, men and teens.

Occupying 20,000 SQ FT in the former JCPenney space, the store will open late this fall, said CBL corporate spokesperson Stacey Keating. Planet Fitness will open in another portion of the space.

“The additions of H&M and Planet Fitness are a perfect example of our commitment to bringing a dynamic mix of uses to our centers,” CBL Properties President and CEO Stephen Lebovitz said in a press release on January 4, 2018. “Dining, value and fitness are increasingly in demand, and we are pleased to deliver names that not only meet this demand, but elevate the overall customer experience.”

Construction is also underway on a new Outback Steakhouse at Eastland. The restaurant will relocate from its current location at Lakewood Plaza in Bloomington. CBL is acting as project manager for the redevelopment projects.

“H&M is an excellent retail partner for CBL,” said Keating. “We have them in over 20 other locations across our portfolio. They’re definitely one of the most sought-after tenants from our customers’ perspective.”

Keating said CBL is still finalizing plans for the former Macy’s at Eastland. “As soon as we have more information to share, we will be excited to do so.”

CBL confirmed that H&M, Planet Fitness, and Outback Steakhouse are all set to open late this fall.
