The cause of the downed power line is unknown

  • A downed power line caused multiple outages in Bloomington and Normal around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Ameren Illinois spokesperson Kelly Hendrickson said. Ameren has yet to determine the cause of the downed power line.
  • Hendrickson estimated power would be restored for all customers affected by the outage by noon Wednesday, though some Bloomington outages were estimated for repair around 2:00 p.m., according to Ameren’s online Outage Map.

  • The National Weather Service in Lincoln reported Wednesday’s high at 10 degrees Fahrenheit, with wind chills between 0 and -7 degrees.
