Going Local: Clay Dooley Tire and Auto Service

Clay Dooley started his auto business, Clay Dooley Tire and Auto Service, in July 1917. In 1965, he incorporated the business and several employees owned a percentage of the company. Later, Vernon Trower would gain 100% ownership after Clay Dooley died in 1968. Today, Vernon’s sons, Brian, David, and Steve, and his daughter Ruth all work at the business and share joint ownership.

CIRA Takes Action to Improve Financial Standing and Emergency Response

The Central Illinois Regional Airport has taken steps to improve its financial standing and to further train staff to respond to emergency situations. Airport authority officials say the airport is in better financial shape after refinancing its bonds last month. Airport authority board commissioners last month approved a bond ordinance that allowed the issuance of over $6.4M in new bonds.

Despite Owners' Protests, Some Lake Bloomington Docks Will be Cited

Lake Bloomington residents hoping to end the years-long debate over potentially illegal docks now face what City staff warn could be a lengthy court process to assess the 17 or so structures in question.Council members Monday night voted 7-2 to effectively take no action on the issue, deferring instead to the City’s current process for handling structures that don’t comply with its building ordinances.
